From Las Ramblas to the Ramada
George Clooney, despite his penchant for mandatory jackets, is no hotel snob.
The Oscar winner is shooting the thriller movie "Michael Clayton" in Blooming Grove, a small town just north of New York City and is staying at a local Ramada Inn for $99 a night.
According to SF Gate, the hotel receptionist said he only had one request, an electric tea maker. "He's an absolute doll. Everyone loved him," she said. While the initial report didn't mention which Ramada we went and did some research of our own and found it was the Newburgh property.
Some of the hotel's not-so-famous guests complained that the front desk was rude and:
Rooms themselves had a very strong disinfectant smell, overpowering. Toilet wouldn't flush, no tv remote and when requested it took over a hour and 2nd call to finally get it.
But maybe Clooney wasn't spending much time in his room since the report claims he tried to fit in with some of the locals by drinking at the hotel bar.
Hmm...we wonder if he will be willing to do the same for Las Ramblas if it ever actually gets built.
