A Grand Irish House Opens Near Dublin

Britain's Guardian newspaper this week gave an almost suspiciously big thumbs up to a new hotel in Ireland, less than an hour from Dublin. Bellinter House opened just a couple of weeks ago but already has the critics raving:

Guests at Bellinter will face tough choices. Does one tipple in the intimate wine bar or the one overlooking the river? ... Fishing on the river (they've got rights to three miles of it) or billiards in the games room? ... With each of the 37 bedrooms generously proportioned, individually styled and with luxury bathrooms, LCD screens, DVD players and top-of-the-range music systems, perhaps the most difficult choice will be whether or not to leave your room at all?

When you discover that its heritage-listed status seems to require it to be open to the public between 12pm and 4pm each day (free admission), you might be more inclined to stick to your room. Or, if you can wait until next year, try out the soon-to-be-completed cinema and spa--unfortunately they're not combined.
