Inside a typical room at the PuroHotel Oasis Urbano

Where do the heavy hitters of the music industry stay when they're far away from their mansions and second and third homes? Well, they either go way remote and luxe like a cabana in the Seychelles or they go somewhere with good proximity to a studio, like a friend's mansion with home studio or a hotel nicely located near one. Well, Mallorca's Puro Hotel Oasis Urbano is keeping their music industry guests happy by just building one into the hotel.

Apparently Puro, a hotel that has it's own music mix albums in the minibar, is the place to stay for visiting DJs, who are a big part of the cultural scene on Palma de Mallorca. The new music studio, opening in March 2011, will be in a private wing, a "completely new area which can be hired exclusively by musicians, or small groups looking for a private space to celebrate."

How cute are these guys? We know! But what the hell have they got to do with hotels? No, they're not the newest addition to the mini-bar menu, but they will carry your lunch for you, if you're a guest at the super-luxe La Residencia hotel in Mallorca.

Oh, how rude of us. We didn't introduce you. This is Pancho and his sisters Alba and Lluna—they're the latest staff members at the Orient Express property, and they make it possible for hotel guests to hike into the hills behind the main house to enjoy a picnic. (We're glad they just carry the food—at first we thought they were for riding, and were shocked how small they were.)

Mallorca Gets a 'Mansion' Hotel

Opening this month in Mallorca, Spain is the Hotel L'Avenida, a small eight room boutique hotel near the mountains of Soller.

While most people hit up Mallorca for some high-flying celebrity living, the L'Avenida's somewhat isolated location makes it a better place for those seeking relaxation, pretty scenery and if they're in the mood, some light hiking or cycling actvities.

And the L'Avenida is a good place for those who are for the moment, so over hotels. That's because it's a renovated mansion house:

with original ceiling and wall frescoes, coupled with cutting-edge interior design. All rooms & suites have jaw-dropping mountain views, flat screen TVs, CD players and internet access. Bathrooms showcase luxurious walk-in showers. Outside the large pool shares the tropical garden with the sun-bathing deck, shady gazebo and dining terrace.

Which sounds good but looking at the pictures of the rooms on the hotel web site, it looks like Z Gallerie threw up in there. Lots of dark woods and colors and some funky abstract prints. Thankfully, despite the hotel's size, each room has its own bathroom.

The one negative is that the hotel's bistro only serves its Mediterranean cuisine on Friday and Saturday nights. It is open for breakfast and lunch and never fear, there are two bars and drinks are served poolside at all times. It's just about 50 degrees there right now.

The room rates are seasonal with May through September starting at 175 Euros and the other half of the year at 160 Euros.
