French Alps Getaway: Hot Tubs, Ski Slopes, and Babysitters

Since we play fair here, we've been showcasing the warm weather winter getaways just as much as we have the winter playgrounds. We know that if you're going to skip the beach that a beautiful ski chalet in the mountains is the answer.

So how about the French Alps? Sounds parfait. La Berangere in Les Deux Alpes is an oh-so cliché French chalet with sauna, steam room, indoor pool and Jacuzzi, a salon and spa, you know the kinds of things that make you forget about cold weather yet when you want it, it's right outside.

Speaking of right outside, there you will find the slopes.

Skiing to and from the hotel couldn't be easier. You can step into your skis just a few yards from the door to La Berangere's ski locker room and head down one of the many nursery slopes to a drag lift which gives you access to both mountains.

As for you mommies and daddies out there, La Berangere is also an award winner when it comes to taking care of your children while you enjoy their hotel. Those French really understand the meaning of the word: getaway. Unfortunately, the French don't quite get the concept of web site as the site only features this old-looking photo and the hotel's contact information.
