Westin Jersey City On Hold Until February

What the Westin JC looks like now.
Find yourself having to come home to Jersey for the holidays but want the option of some New York City action? It's too bad the Westin Jersey City won't be ready for ya! With its proximity to lower Manhattan (one stop to the West Village or two stops to the Financial District) and breathtaking views of the same), the new Westin would have made an excellent option getting in some quality city time over the holiday. Why all the pluperfect subjunctive, you ask? Well, the Westin was originally slated to open its doors this month but now the hot property is delayed until early February 2009.

Westin Jersey City Construction Update
If anything ever forces you to go to Jersey City (just kidding...sorta), you'll be able to stay in a brand spankin' new Westin as of November 1st. Based on these construction shots we scored, things seem to be coming along nicely and an on-time opening may even be a possibility!
Among the Westin Jersey City's features that may help to make Jersey bearable (kidding again!) are the views of Manhattan:
The suites are all located on the curve of the front of the building. The bathrooms for the suites will have deep soaking tubs set right by the windows for Manhattan views. The Presidential [suite] will have a 180 degree views from SoHo to Battery Park.
The Westin Jersey City will have plenty of food, too, with two restaurants and 24-hour roomservice planned.

Jersey City To Get A Hilton Hotel

New Jersey hotels just outside New York are feeling some hotel expansion love. Bayonne is getting a Holiday Inn. Hoboken is getting a W Hotel. Now, Jersey City is getting a Hilton Hotel.
Blog New York Sixth reports of the rumblings on the Wired New York that say Liberty Harbor North will get a new hotel on the waterfront with views of lower Manhattan, New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. The stats include:
* 300 Room Hilton Hotel with Street-Level Shops
* Banquet & Conference Facilities
* Full Health Club
The area will also get a few condo and townhouse buildings.
The Hilton, along with the upcoming Holiday Inn and W Hotel could offer you a cheaper alternative to Manhattan without having to stay in a Ramada on Long Island. Then again, you have to tell your friends you stayed in New Jersey.
