Some Football Players Did Very Bad Things to This Crowne Plaza Hotel Room

Where: 123 W Louisiana St [map], Indianapolis, IN, United States, 46225
April 18, 2013 at 3:44 PM | by | Comments (0)

Update: It was these guys.

Ugh. Yet another example of professional athletes behaving badly in hotel rooms. This time it happened at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The incident took place in February but word only just came out via Yahoo! Sports. They reported:

National Football Scouting president Jeff Foster, who runs the NFL scouting combine, confirmed that a hotel room was left trashed during the February 2013 event in Indianapolis. However, Foster refused to identify the two players who shared the room for three nights, though sources have indicated that one of the two prospects is a potential first-round pick in next week's NFL draft.

So how bad was the damage? Like Lohan or Courtney Love bad with cigarette burns everywhere? Or 80s hair band bad with broken bottles of alcohol littered on the floor and TVs thrown out the window? Judging from the description below, it's a new kind of bad. Very bad:

It’s not often we get to chat about hotels in Indianapolis (hey, Conrad!), but this new one is especially interesting for one reason—it’s parking garage is off the chain.

Set to open January 14th, The Alexander Hotel (named after Alexander Ralston, the architect who platted both Indianapolis and Washington D.C.) will be a 209-room haven in the heart of the city, that’s filled with more works of art than you can imagine.

Get ready to hold your chin and say “hmmm” as you peruse instillations by artist Jorge Pardo, as well as over 50 commissioned works displaced throughout the hotel’s public spaces. There are also pieces curated by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, including one by Madame C.J. Walker, the first self-made African American female millionaire and Indianapolis legend.

But what about that garage we mentioned?

Shady Westin Valet Makes Off With Reggie Wayne's Bentley

If you happen to enjoy getting your car stolen by delinquent 21-year-old valets, then, boy, do we have a hotel for you. This weekend, Gunner Belcher (what a name!), a valet employed at the Westin Indianapolis, was pulled over at 2am on Sunday morning by cops who suspected he might be drunk driving.

Well, he was.

But what cops also found out was that Belcher, "with glassy eyes and slurred speech," was behind the wheel of a 2007 Bentley belonging to Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne. Wayne had dropped the car off at the Westin just a few hours earlier, and, around 9pm, Belcher decided it was time to take her for a spin.

To make a bad situation worse, Belcher then lied to cops and told them he was "Wayne's cousin by marriage," which is completely absurd, yet exactly the kind of quick-thinking logic we'd expect from someone on a mindless, drunken joyride through the streets of Indianapolis at 2am on a Sunday.

Without a seatbelt, no less.

What's Happening in the Courtyard By Marriott Zone During Super Bowl Weekend

February 3, 2012 at 11:30 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Courtyard Greatness on the Road Zone at the NFL Experience in Indianapolis yesterday.

We've already told you how Courtyard by Marriott, an official sponsor of the NFL, was turning into a superfan for the Super Bowl XLVI this year but now that the Big Game weekend has officially kicked off we thought we'd check in with Janis Milham, Vice President and Global Brand Manager for Courtyard and get some on-the-scene reports from her.

"It is BUZZING," she said yesterday of the vibe in downtown Indianapolis. "There are people all over the place and it is just the first day. I can only imagine what it would be like on Saturday and Sunday."

Milham was sitting in the sports bar of the JW Marriott but she was about to head over to the NFL Experience at the Indianapolis Convention Center where NFL fans can gawk at the Vince Lombardi Trophy, step into a replica NFL locker room, see how far they can throw a spiral downfield and more. It's also where people can peep at the new Courtyard By Marriott lobbies at the Courtyard Greatness on the Road Zone.

Courtyard By Marriott Going All Out for Super Bowl XLVI

January 30, 2012 at 4:19 PM | by | Comment (1)

Back in October, we learned that Courtyard by Marriott Hotels were the places to be during football games as the hotel brand is the Official Sponsor of the NFL.

Aside from offering NFL-oriented rewards and experiences for Courtyard guests, some Courtyard hotels would also be holding viewing parties in their lobbies. Courtyard was even holding a contest to send one lucky winner to the Super Bowl.

While that opportunity may have passed for any of you desperate Pat or Giants fans, Courtyard is going Super Bowl crazy all this week.

For starters, Courtyard is giving out an autographed NFL football every day this week on Twitter until the Super Bowl. All you have to do is @CourtyardHotels on Twitter and tweet @courtyardhotels the Twitter pal you’re watching the Super Bowl with (e.g. @USERNAME) and the hashtag #HutHutWin for a chance to win. (Today's football comes from Dhani Jones, a former linebacker for the Bengals. Tomorrow will be Pierre Garcon, wide receiver for the Colts.)

Jetsetter to Offer Super Bowl Packages with Game Tickets (at Jetsetter Prices)

January 24, 2012 at 10:40 AM | by | Comment (1)

It's official--the New England Patriots and the New York Giants will once again face off against each other in the Super Bowl. This time the showdown's happening in Indianapolis on February 5. While Manning and his mates will be chillaxing at the Marriott Downtown and Brady and co. are shacking up in luxury at the University Place Hotel, the rest of us devoted football fans are left with some pretty grim budget options outside of downtown.

But if you're a Giants or a Pats fan whose not on a budget, then you may want to consider Jetsetter.com's Super Bowl packages which go on sale today at 3pm EST.

The packages include three night's accommodations the Four Points Sheraton in Carmel, Indiana, where the rooms actually look pretty good. And since it's a Four Points that mean free WiFi. Woot! The packages also include invites to the Rolling Stone Bacardi Bash featuring LMFAO and Lupe Fiasco, access to the game-day Rock n' Roll Fan Tailgate (where Jane's Addiction and The Roots will be playing) and lastly tickets to the Big Game with VIP rides to and from the stadium.

Living Social's Super Bowl XLVI Package Includes a Hotel Room and a Game Ticket

January 17, 2012 at 5:00 PM | by | Comment (1)

So now that we've rounded up some of the not-so-desirable-yet-still-available hotels in the Indianapolis-area for Super Bowl XLVI as well as the team hotels in downtown, let's take a look at one of the Super Bowl packages out there.

This one comes from LivingSocial.com and for $5,500 you will get a ticket to the game, admission to the Maxim tailgate party before the game, four nights at the Hampton Inn Indianapolis East and roundtrip transportation from the hotel to the event.

As always, there's a few things to watch out for. First, the rate that LivingSocial is charging for the package is based on double-occupancy and according to this disclaimer: Double-occupancy purchasers must book their stay with another customer who also buys and books the double-occupancy option. That means it's still going to cost you $5,500 even if you go with a friend. Also, airfare is not included. Living Social also makes the claim that the Hampton Inn stay is based on availability of rooms and that "purchasers may be placed in comparable area accommodations."

Where are the AFC and NFC Championship Teams Staying for Super Bowl XLVI?

January 16, 2012 at 5:10 PM | by | Comment (1)

We got a question from a reader the other week about the host hotels for the AFC and NFC Champions in Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI. While the AFC and NFC champs will be decided next weekend, we got the skinny on where they will stay when they land in Indy.

The AFC champs will hole up at the University Place Conference Center & Hotel while the NFC winners will shack up at the Marriott Downtown. Meanwhile, the city's brand new glistening JW Marriott Hotel will serve as the media center while the Westin Indianapolis will be the NFL Headquarters.

Now, let's take a closer look at the team hotels. The University Hotel is, as its name indicates, a part of Indiana and Purdue Universities. The four-star hotel has modern rooms with 32" flat screen TVs, free internet, desks with ergonomic chairs, crisp duvets and BeeKind toiletries (which are eco-friendly as well.)

Where to Get Super Bowl XLVI Rooms in Indianapolis

January 9, 2012 at 10:45 AM | by | Comments (6)

Know of a hotel room open that's close to the Lucas Oil Stadium? Let us know!

UPDATE, 1.27.12: It's not too late to get a room for the Super Bowl. Here are some LAST-MINUTE HOTEL OPTIONS.

Once again, it's time to scramble for last-minute hotel rooms for the Super Bowl. Yet while the Bud Light Hotel Correspondent already has a place to stay, the rest of may not be so lucky.

As with most Super Bowl host cities, the good places are already sold-out. Indeed, the new JW Marriott Indianapolis was sold-out for this Super Bowl before it even opened...last year. And remember when we showed you that every hotel within two miles of the stadium was sold-out a year in advance?

Suffice to say, you will be sleeping on the outskirts of town in a budget brand hotel if you want to see your team take the field. Just be prepared to break out the cash and/or split the cost with three of your friends.

With the Super Bowl just around the corner, Bud Light is gearing up for their annual hotel takeover. Now in its third year, the four-day-long, beer-fueled fiesta will be taking place at Hampton Inn Indianapolis Downtown Circle Center, and yes, the Playboy Party will still be happening.

Unlike the previous two years, Bud Light wants to hire an official Hotel Correspondent to keep track of social media for this year's event—plus conduct red carpet interviews, star in YouTube videos and liaise between the hotel partiers and those following the debauchery online from other parts of the country.

The perks of this so-called "job" (yes, this is an actual salaried position) include a free hotel stay and as much beer as you can handle. Interested? See below for instructions on how to apply!

For those of us who are addicted to Starbucks, the location of a Starbucks store inside our hotel is always a godsend. But now the addicted Starbucksers who end up staying at the brand new JW Marriott Indianapolis will not only be able to order their double shot skinny sugar-free vanilla latte with whip but also use their iPhone to pay for it.

The hotel has just announced that they have opened this newfangled kiosk concept from Starbucks on the second floor, adjacent to the Sky Bridge that connects the JW to the newly expanded Indiana Convention Center. Very convenient!
