Middle England Hotel more like Middle Earth standard!
[Publisher’s Note: A HotelChatter reader writes in to review Ramada Bear in Hungerford, England. This hotel maven wasn’t pleased with what was perceived as a bait and switch by the hotel. Glossy advertising, not so glossy rooms.]
What can I say... I was looking forward to two nights at a very pretty village type hotel, which from the website had all mod-cons, traditional style rooms and in the middle of a very quaint village... Ahh how wrong I was...
Ok, so the village was very pretty and classic middle England, but the hotel was no more than a motel/travel lodge style place. Nothing matched in the bedroom, very noisy road outside, 70's style decoration, and as for the breakfast.. I'm not happy when the plate is hotter than the food... Staff seemed to bring in friends with their kids for breakfast too.. not exactly what was advertised on the web... Though we did get a free movie as the TV system would only accept the number of the room next door not ours!! Oh well.
