'Overwhelming Hospitality' at the W Hoboken
By the end of this month, the W Hoboken will have been open for two months already; quite a feat considering how many delays we've fretted over and how many times we've personally staked the place out. With all components of the property functioning properly as far as we know, it's time to take a look at what real guests are saying about the place, and if the commute into Manhattan is really all that bad for tourists.
Of course we're turning to TripAdvisor for the first-hand lowdown, since other sites (even Yelp) so far have nothing on the two reviews we found here.

Inside the W Hoboken's Grand Opening Bash
As we mentioned this morning, we hit up last night's grand opening bash of the W Hoboken, the newest property (and, fun fact, the smallest-city location) from hip Starwood chain W Hotels. And, like, yeah: it was Hoboken. What we want to know is this: how the F (or how the W, teehee) did they get so many people to come? The place was absolutely packed.
Oh yeah, it was a big night for Jerz: music was pumping, the gorgeous people were out in droves. DJ Cassidy played all evening long while gorgeous waitstaff strutted their stuff on the floor wielding finger foods like sliders and pork potstickers and cocktails that were, erm, fairly strong (notice the shakey camera work in the video above).

Only at a W Hotel, And Only in New Jersey
Oh, this? Yeah, no big thang. Just a chickie chillin' in a giant W-branded martini glass while it's still daylight outside. No biggie.
We hit up the W Hoboken's grand opening bash last night and saw...well, we saw a lot of things. And here is one of those things, and it is somehow oh-so-W and oh-so...we were going to say "Jersey," but it's actually kind of Vegas, no?
We'll bring you the full party report (and a video!) later today, but we just wanted to give a lil' taste of what went down across the river. And yes, if you're wondering: the place was packed.

It's Good Friday All Right: W Hoboken's Chandelier Room Opens Tonight
In a matter of mere hours, the partying population of Hoboken, New Jersey will finally be able to settle their tipsy tushies into an oversize chandelier while gazing out across the Hudson River at the skyline of Manhattan. Yes, it is true: the Chandelier Room club at the W Hoboken debuts tonight at 5:30pm. No doubt the most coveted chairs in the room will be the drops of the "inhabitable" chandelier, and we can already imagine girls in short skirts sitting on each other's laps in an ongoing battle for them.
If our recent visit to the W's Living Room bar is anything to go by, then the Chandelier Room will be serving some pricey cocktails befitting their scenic location. Cheers to them, however, 'cause if we're thinking straight, the opening of this last piece of the puzzle means that the W Hoboken is complete. It's Good Friday all right, a good Friday for getting drunk.

Guess the Hotel Revealed: The W Hoboken
With its wheatgrass centerpieces, its views from New Jersey into New York City, and the gentle scent of "new hotel," the W Hoboken finally welcomes guests and locals to take advantage of its many new features. Stopping by their Living Room lobby bar yesterday, we indulged in a cocktail, logged onto the 'net for an hour gratis, and proceeded to relish being warm and inside of this property, which we had previously only covered from the outside on freezing, windy days throughout the winter.
Although the Chandelier Room has faced a delay in opening, the rest of the W looks in order with their Zylo Steakhouse, a W Hotels retail store, Bliss Spa, and the Living Room in which we sat and surveyed the surroundings.

W Hoboken's Chandelier Room Won't Drop For Another Week
Looks like we'll be waiting another week before we can swing from the chandeliers in the newly-opened W Hoboken, as their Chandelier Room lounge isn't quite finished with the primping and polishing.
Once the bar is stocked and the W has a few more guests, however, expect this newest venture from the guys behind NYC club Tenjune to attract posh partiers from both sides of the Hudson River. It may just call us in out of curiosity as well, seeing as how the decor is going to feature a ginormous, "inhabitable" chandelier, absinthe-colored accents and "classic proportions, stunning river views, and an open terrace – three key ingredients for an archetypal Great Room."

Mark Your Calendars: W Hoboken Taking Guests on March 27
Stop the presses; the W Hoboken has a serious case of opening date indecision. The latest in a long line of date switcheroos is to push back the opening from March 18 to March 27, with the website also proclaiming that they will begin taking reservations on the 27th as well.
Having dropped by the W's construction site earlier this week, we have to admit that they may have finally struck upon a balance between finishing the place and preparing to actually inhabit it. March 27 is perfectly within range, as it seems only the lobby and landscaping needs a little tender loving care.
If the W pulls it together and throws down the welcome mat on this date, then that will give them a few sweet months to hammer out the kinks and fire up their Zylo Steakhouse grill for what will no doubt be a hopping summer on this unexpected side of the Hudson.

Get Your W Hoboken Goody Bags Tomorrow
Hey, Hobokeners! Get ready to tell your NYC-dwelling coworkers to stuff it, because tomorrow you'll be getting presents from W Hotels and they won't. W Hoboken to Open With Sinatra Cocktails
A sure sign the W Hoboken is getting closer to opening? W Hotels has just announced a package deal for the new hotel for stays starting on March 31st. Here's what is included:

We checked room rates for March 31st and the package wasn't available. However, rooms were starting at $259 a night. The package when available starts at $305 a night.

The W Hoboken To Finally Open on March 18
The bridge and tunnel crowds that flood NYC every weekend won't much longer to wait for a nightlife option closer to home as the W Hoboken is expected to open on March 18th, according to its website. Of course, Starwood keeps doing that weird thing where they open the hotel but they don't take any reservations until a few weeks later. In this case, it's March 30th.
But for about 12 days you can wander the W Hoboken at your leisure. Or you can eat there. Hoboken411 reports that the hotel will have a Zylo Steakhouse inside. Aside from the usual carnivore selections, the restaurant will serve up Italian fare like (in a thick Italian-Jersey accent) pasta, salads, pizza, proscuitt, some muzzarelllla, and uh, you know, all-around good stuff. Just like Mama used to make. Would we lie to you?
The 50-seat restaurant will also have an open outdoor patio in the warmer months which looks right across the Hudson to the Financial District. For those looking for lighter bites than a good old-fashioned Italian meal, Zylo will have a bar and lounge with an “on-site salumeria and artisanal cheese bar and boasts an Italian-driven wine list and signature cocktails utilizing fresh juices.” Rates start at $259 a night. No word on whether Tony knows somebody who knows somebody who can knock that down a little for youse guys.

We Haz a Sad: W Hoboken Delayed Until April
Looks like we correctly sized-up the progress of the W Hoboken yesterday; we've received a delay confirmation for what will soon be North New Jersey's hotel sexpot.
Straight from the hotel's rep: "W Hoboken is set to start taking reservations in mid-March, with an official grand opening on April 16." That's a healthy month-and-a-half of extra time after their originally proposed opening of February 26. Sorry W fans and hopeful adulterers; it's back to W Union Square for you.

Predicting the W Hoboken's Status as an "Affair Hotel"
New York has a full dance card for 2009 hotel openings, and with the way it's going, the W Hoboken is set to become the most under-hyped new arrival. Of course, not if we can help it. Checking in on the construction site yesterday, we were able to conclude two things: 1) it will most likely not make the projected opening date of February 26 and 2) when it does open, it will bring the sexyback to Jersey by becoming the ladies' man of area hotels.
First, let's briefly address all the construction and why we predict a small delay: half the balconies are missing railings, all of the rooms we could see into were still sans furnishings, public spaces like the lobby, spa and gym are less put together than the upper floors, and the grand entrance looks more like a half-completed parking garage. Granted that a lot can happen in the next month, and we sincerely hope they make the date so that we can stroll up in there for cocktails, but we're just not seeing it.
