Pink Sands Resort Can Be Yours to Own

January 21, 2008 at 3:00 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The celeb-fave getaway Pink Sands Resort on Harbour Island in the Bahamas (Drew Barrymore, Diane Von Furstenburg and Uma Thurman are fans) is now offering private residences.

Purchased from former Island Records owner Chris Blackwell, Pink Sands is expanding the property to include 46 residences consisting of 30 villas and cottages, and 16 condo-hotel units for private ownership.

Groundbreaking on the new residential units, which range from $1.5 million to $8 million, is expected this year.

Have no fear, the property and its two freshwater pools, spa, tennis courts, beach cabanas and WiFi access are still open to regular hotel guests who aren't in the market for a second (or third) home. Although the rooms aren't cheap. In high season, rates are $750 a night for a one-bedroom cottage view room.

Renderings of the private residences after the jump.

Harbour Island: Record Moguls Gift To Honeymooners

Approximately three years ago J. Wallace Tutt III a.k.a "Wallace", who helped design homes for Gianni Versace and Cher, bought a rental villa and former schoolhouse and transformed it into Harbour Islands Rock House Hotel. This is a love it or hate it type place. The haters will mock the South Beach style poolside cabanas and omnipresent rock and roll music, saying "this isn't stripped down island life", while the lovers will return year after year rave about the service, the owners, the meticulously maintained picture perfect pool area, and the scene--yes, there is a scene at Rock House.

A couple years back former Ralph Lauren model turned designer India Hicks and her partner David Flint Wood refurbished The Landing, a seven-room, colonial style hotel steps from the Govt. Boat Dock.  India was so excited about her new career as a Bahama design mamma she even wrote a book about it.  So what is her hotel like?

The seven rooms are split into two buildings built of limestone back in 1800.  The main building houses a restaurant, a large veranda overlooking the bay, and a library with reliable, free Internet access, via an old iMac (though the Landing Wifi network is available on-site and seemed stable).
