The Glin Castle has been called the best property in Ireland's famed "Blue Book."

This place isn't a Four Seasons, it is an old castle, so check your pretentiousness at the door and enjoy the restored walled garden The walled garden, views of the sea, and a pleasant attentive staff.

The Dingle peninsula, which served as a location setting for the 1970 Robert Mitchum film Ryan's Daughter and, more recently, Far and Away (Tom Cruise, cough, cough). Back at the castle, the bathrooms are posh for a castle, with Crabtree & Evelyn amenities and big ass towels.

The proprietors, Desmond FitzGerald, and his wife, Olda, are very much around, and word is, if you are lucky, they may even take you to the local pub, but good luck keeping up.
