A Lighthouse Hotel

Ever heard of George Town? Here's a hint: it's in Tasmania. Now, will you ever hear about it? That depends on whether some developers get a hold of the lighthouse.

With a mere $25 million, these developers will "brighten up the night sky" with a lighthouse hotel.

The 60-room hotel would be a tower with a white "membrane" wrapped around it that could appear as if it has been lit up. Basically, take the hokey mini-golf lighthouse you are imagining, and add cool lighting that transforms it at night into different colors using digital lighting technology.

While only six floors will have rooms, the 20-story building will also have a cocktail bar, restaurant, observation deck, and roof top clubs.

The developers are hoping for an architectural gem that's on par with the Eiffel Tower (their example). We are hoping for free WiFi and giant beams of light.
