Ft Lauderdale Travel Guide
Ah, imagine waking up on your semi-late Spring Break vacay in Ft. Lauderdale to fire alarms. Annoying. Except imagine there was a real fire in your hotel. Scary.
Calls about the fire at 3030 Holiday Dr. came in just before 4:30 a.m., spokesman Matt Little said. The hotel's sprinkler system controlled the fire, but 250 people were evacuated from the hotel as a precaution, Little said.
Six rooms sustained damage as a result of the fire. Investigators are looking into what caused the blaze.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt. But a morning fire? What a bummer. And on top of that, unfortunately, forgetting about this morning might not be so easy for guests: the martinis there are no longer $5.
This new restaurant will feature Northern Italian cuisine combined with a spectacular panoramic view. The menu will pay tribute to English’s Tuscan roots, and feature pastas, grilled entrees and flatbreads.
And the official word from the the restaurant's MySpace page (how trendy!) is that the Ft. Lauderdale spot is going to open up in November.
We're certain the food is going to be excellent, but we're not going to lie: we're a little bit worried about the ambiance -- specifically the music playlist. See, the restaurant's MySpace friends include LL Cool J, Creed, Christina Milian and Danity Kane. Um. Yeah. That sorta makes us worry, you know? A gentle suggestion to Todders: if you're considering booking one of those four to play your opening, we urge you to reconsider.

We all know what it’s like to check into a hotel during the day. The front desk staff falls all over themselves to please and appease. But what’s it like in the middle of the night?
Because I only exist to serve the reader, I stepped up to the plate and trekked out for a moonlit excursion. Gabe's latest post click.

With all of the beautiful hotels in South Florida why did I have to choose this one? Why are some guys attracted to women who will inevitably break their hearts? Why can't she do the right thing and mail me back my favorite t-shirt I let her borrow a month ago?
Not only do we have no idea what a "coctail" is, but...
If you are going to vacation in Ft. Lauderdale, the Sea Club Resort seems like an uncomfortable place to do it--kinda like in the back of a Volkswagen at least according to this girl:
I felt that upon my return from Fort Lauderdale I had to post a review of this dumpy hotel. I realize that if you're on a budget, you have to stay at hotels that may not be up to par with other hotels; however, after staying at the Sea Club "Resort" I realize that I'm willing to spend the extra money!
The staff was atrocious! Not only were they completely unhelpful, they also were quite sketchy. I traveled here with two other young females and we all felt uncomfortable around them due to prolonged stares and unwelcomed comments.
Also, the clientele is very scary. I wanted to take a dip in the pool and came upon a couple who were doing something in the pool that should've been done in the privacy of their bedroom!

Every year around late March, here in the frozen Northeast, everyone is at wits' end with the weather.
Which means then next couple of weekends are perfect for jetting off to somewhere sunny for 48 hours of sun.
Florida hoteliers must be hip to this trend as well, because we had trouble finding a decent hotel deal for this weekend using the Internet's roulette wheel. Both Miami and Key West searches yielded juiced rates.
However, Fort Laud seems to have a decent variety of rates and locations still available for this weekend.
So if you have the means, get yourself down to the Sunshine State before cabin fever does you in, you poor pasty bastards.
(Editor's Note: Gabe, our SoFlo bachelor, is back with his take on the Doubletree Ft. Lauderdale. We broke this into two stories. Remember, as always this is only one persons opinion, but in this case it is Gabe's, so take it with maybe half a grain of salt. This story, and top five reasons to stay at the Doubletree Ft. Lauderdale are the two stories. Enjoy.)
I was quite shocked to find extremely negative reviews posted about this place on the web. From the exterior, the DoubleTree, gives off the impression of being impressively ritzy.
