The Homely Hotel Stop
If you're off to the English countryside but want to play it a little more real than the mansion of the Charlton House, try the Roslin Hotel at Thorpe Bay as the UK's Mirror recommends. The hotel is incredibly reasonable starting at just 75 pounds and with that comes the luxury of the beach and harbor steps away, not to mention there's an aquarium in town.
The hotel doesn't have a copper tub, handmade soaps, nor does it have that old world feeling that will provoke you to think you're visiting one of your richie rich friends; but it does have a "homely style." OK, knowing the Brits this could possibly mean "ugly" which is why there are little to no pictures of the hotel on the website. Many rooms have views of the sea and we give props to the hotel for admitting that not all rooms do.
But because this place is cheap az hell, you are not going to get what you expect back home. The hotel boasts that their rooms have coffee and tea making facilities, an alarm, hair dryer, etc, but no mention of WiFi. Nevertheless, skip on into town for a pint of ice-cream and a big ol' plate of fish and chips for just over 2 pounds.
But maybe don't eat them together.
