If you visit Cleveland, Ohio you may notice the taxi doors simply say "I like Cleveland." Love, being too strong a word, and the heart being already taken by NY, Cleveland just wants to be liked--aim high Cleveland. Somewhere between like and love is The Alcazar Hotel in Cleveland Heights.

There are not really that many hotel options in the older suburbs of Cleveland. Thus, the Alcazar has little competition. It's not what you'd expect to see in Cleveland, and certainly not in the midwest-- think 1920's Spanish-Moorish, pentagon looking building, with lush courtyard. Lush courtyard, um, if you visit in June maybe.

The name, often butchered to Alcatraz or Alka-Seltzer by likable travelers, means "home in a fortress." You can rent suites at Alcazar monthly, so you can make like Superman and turn this Cleveland hotel into your own Fortress of Solitude--if you "like" Cleveland.
