Lose profit and clientele, or get bad press for expelling Katrina victims; it's a decision that is vexing many hotels. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.
Often businesses make contracts with hotel chains to hold a specific number of rooms, if these rooms are not available the hotel may risk losing the clients, or being sued for breach of contract. Cause business must continue for the South to recuperate.
But, c'mon guys--haven't these people been through enough? Will a few months of low profit really affect the mega-millions the companies pull in? Maybe that is naive, and we no doubt understand these hotels are in a sticky situation.
