Urbanites look away, this is a storybook cottage built for those who want to escape the tube and stay in the country during their trek to the UK? The Thatched Cottage sits on a quiet land in Brockenhurst and is worth a look.

The 400 year old cottage includes low ceilings, exposed beams, and five rooms decorated somewhere between charm and chintz.

Some rooms have big old fire places, while other rooms have a shower that doubles as a sauna (read: big shower)

A recent visitor was not happy with the food, saying:

I didn't actually stay in the cottage - I stayed in their sister hotel The Old Cottage Hotel - but I did go for supper. While the cottage/decor is beautiful, I thought the food was appalling. Over-designed almost to the point of confectionary, I'd go so far as to say it was one of the worse meals I've ever had.

But as we recommended earlier to day, just eat elsewhere.
