We are gonna count this hotel in the haunted category, just cause it is in Stephen King country--yes the bar is very low.

Furthermore, The 12 Dogs of Christmas" was filmed at the Inn, which is a holiday movie, though it is about Christmas.

At the Prodigal Inn, you can stay where scenes from the holiday feature were shot.

Directed by Kieth Merrill ("Witness"), this family film is largely the result of consultations with innkeepers Tom and Marcey White, Texans transplanted to Maine. Not only does the inn's barn serve as the schoolhouse in the movie, but local townsfolk, including the White's young daughter, are extras.

That's not the only story at Prodigal Inn. Innkeeper Tom White is a commissioned bronze sculptor whose work is displayed here, (and in the suites he remodeled in 2003)and Bethel is a popular stop for skiers at Sunday River. Not a snow bunny? There are 400-odd catalogued movie DVD's available for guests.

Couples that actually like each other should opt for the roomy Jeremiah Suite on the first floor, The Marmee, with its handsome sleigh bed, or the honeymoon Audra, which features a four-poster.
