Amazing Race 10 Hotel Update: Mauritius Pit Stop

October 30, 2006 at 9:23 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Last night the Amazing Racers left the surprisingly hotel-populated Kuwait City for Mauritius where they participate in a bunch of water activities.

After almost everyone picks the Sea challenge which was a treasure hunt by sailing to a nearby island(the other choice Salt involved finding a salt pile on a beach for a clue), the racers head for their pitstop at the Chateau bel Ombre, a former sugar estate.

We'll let Jaunted take care of the nitty-gritty episode details, while we focus on hotel.

As part of The Chateau bel Ombre, the Le Telfair is a luxurious golf, spa and oceanfront resort.

The 158 rooms and suites are accommodated in villas of 6 or 8 rooms. Ideally located between sea and nature, between the golf course and the lagoon, amidst the splendour of tropical gardens, each room offers peace and tranquillity in abundance.

Aside from golf and water activities, this seems like the perfect place to just chill and do nothing. Which is good for the Racers since last night's episode happened to be a non-elimation week (again!) But on the other hand, the rates for this place are about $500 a night--way out of their budget.

Honeymoon to the Sound of the Drums at the Heritage Resort

A drum roll accompanying you as you approach your honeymoon suite at first sounds a bit bizarre, but after chewing it over it actually couldn't be more appropriate.

The drummers won't actually follow you all the way to your suite but, nevertheless the beating of African drums in your hotel lobby is a good way to kick off pure escapism.

The Heritage Resort & Spa in Mauritius is the place that will beat the drums for you. But that's not all, you'll also get a drink and some...flannels:

We stayed at the Heritage for our honeymoon. As it was approaching the winter season the hotel was fairly quiet - which was perfect for us, becuase the staff could not do enough for us. On arriving at the hotel you're presented with cool flannels and they beat an african drum to announce your arrival!

The evening entertainment was very good, the mauritian dancers and african drummers were sensational and had everyone captivated.

(We imagine Brangelina picking this place should they ever decide to actually wed.)

If you're worried that the presence of drummers implies a lack of technology and other amenities here, you're wrong. The hotel has a luxurious spa, a golf course and a pretty cool infinity pool. Plus, all rooms have internet and satellite TV but, if you're resorting to these amenities on your honeymoon, you should probably go ahead and invite the drummers on into your room.
