Hotel Churchill: Magnifique en Normandy

We just returned from a visit to Normandy and happened upon a wonderful little hotel, The Hotel Churchill in Bayeux.  This small town is the closest to the beaches and seems to be the central place for visitors.  

We went on-line looking for hotels in January but we couldn't find anything really recommended except the The Lion d' Or, which didn't respond to our inquiries.  We took a chance on the Churchill because is was rated only 3 stars but it sounded pretty good anyway.  

Turns out this is a charming place in the perfect location just a block for the Lion d' Or and much less expensive.  Furthermore, the proprietress of the Churchill is an energetic and very helpful lady, the Madame Hebert.  She and her staff were very responsive, including having breakfast ready for us at 6 AM our last day, an hour earlier than normal.

For anyone planning a visit to Normandy we highly recommend the Churchill.  

BTW: The French in Bayeux are very friendly and many actually admit they speak English.
