Gamblers and Jersey Shore lovers alike rejoice! Revel, the crazysexycool-looking casino-hotel complex on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, has just announced today that it will open up reservations for its 1,800 hotel rooms and suites starting March 5. The hotel will then soft-open on April 2 with the hotel fully functional and seven restaurants open.

But come May 25 and Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer for the Jersey Shore, all of Revel's restaurants, performance spaces, gaming, spa, nightlife and daylife will be open. And they sound freaking amazing, especially Revelry, located 61-feet above sea level and which will house restaurants, shops, nightclubs and a performance space for 700. Revel will also open The Mezz, a theater with a capacity for 5,500 people and we're betting the InOut Pool which begins inside near the lobby and flows outside, will be a big hit.

An Iron Chef Signs On To Revel In Atlantic City

Still planning for a May 2012 opening, Atlantic City's newest hotel, Revel, will be recruiting the services of Iron Chef winner Jose Garces for several of its dining options. Having successfully launched three restaurants inside the recently-opened JDV's The Saguaro (including a coffee take-out counter), Garces is introducing another trilogy into the 47-floor, ocean-facing tower.

A tapas bar (Amada), a whiskey bar (Village Whiskey), and a margarita bar with Mexican street food (Distrito Cantina) will help jazz up the AC scene this spring, along with the hotel's dozen other restaurants, three nightclubs, shopping mall, spa, two theaters and (of course) casino.

Garces, who has been selected as the hotel's "gastronomic cornerstone," lives on a 40-acre Pennsylvania farm with his wife and kids in Bucks County—just a quick two-hour drive from the hotel. Maybe if we're lucky, he'll be trucking over some home-grown cabbage and tomatoes for those Distrito Cantina tacos!

Don't Play Your Scratch-Off In The Shower At The Water Club

Last week, we gave you a peek inside the indoor pools at Atlantic City's The Water Club at the Borgata. Well, continuing with the theme of...water, today we're going inside one of the bathrooms.

And what goes hand in hand with a sexy bathroom in Atlantic City? A hotel sex kit! Or, as The Water Club likes to call them, "Passion Kits," which include everything from condoms to lube to mints to massage oil to "lover's scratch off games." That last one isn't something we normally associate with steamy hotel room hook-ups, but then again, we never say no to a free scratch-off.

Just remember not to take it into the shower with you—a soggy winning ticket won't be of much use!

Few things get us out of bed early on the weekend. Save for a delicious brunch outing, or perhaps an early morning flight, we generally like to lounge around in our sweats and slowly wake up. Which is exactly what we got to do after a heavy night of partying down at The Water Club At The Borgata.

Rising at 6am on Sunday morning, we hopped up to the hotel's rooftop pool, and—minus the old guy doing laps by himself—had the entire 80 foot pool and side jacuzzi to ourselves for a solid two hours.

It's About Time: Atlantic City Gets Its First Hotel Casino Gay Bar

For the longest time, New Yorkers and Philadelphans have been making the couple hour drive down to Atlantic City, NJ to relax, swim in the ocean, gamble a little bit and just generally party down. For an equally long time, gay travelers to Atlantic City haven't had anywhere in the hotels and casinos to get their own groove on...until now.

As part of a huge 1920s-themed renovation, the boardwalk-side Resorts hotel and casino has opened Prohibition, a nightclub which the New York Times is hailing as the "first full-time gay bar at any big American casino." The rainbow flag flies, there are drag show nights, and locals (like the city's entertainment workforce) as welcome just as much as tourists.

The Jersey Shore Might Be Going to Rehab (Not That Kind, The Hard Rock Kind)

June 24, 2011 at 1:25 PM | by | Comments (0)

Atlantic City could certainly use a boost in new hotels these days but is Hard Rock really the right option? Only time will tell.

Just when we thought The Revel would be the last new hotel in AC for a while comes news that Hard Rock International has filed for a development permit in AC to build a hotel on the southern end of the boardwalk.

The hotel will actually open in two phases--the first being a 208-room hotel with 54,800-sq.ft. of casino space. That will then be followed by an additional 27,500-sq.ft. of gaming and 642 rooms.

The Hard Rock Atlantic City will also include a Hard Rock Cafe, a 7,185-square-foot spa, a fitness and recreation area with an indoor pool, and an outdoor pool terrace.

Revel, Atlantic City's Newest (and Possibly Last) Casino Will Open Next Summer

April 25, 2011 at 2:54 PM | by | Comments (0)

While Las Vegas has had its fun (somewhat) opening new casino hotels over the past few years, Atlantic City hasn't seen a new property since the opening of the Borgata's Water Tower back in 2008. But that will change when the planned Revel casino opens in mid-2012.

The Press of Atlantic City reports:

Revel is a play on the word meaning fun. The company plans to entertain its guests by stocking the resort with pools, a spa, 12 restaurants, retail shops, two nightclubs and other attractions found nowhere else in Atlantic City.

One of the most striking features will be a two-acre, landscaped outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. The so-called roofscape will include a man-made “pine grove” of more than 30,000 live trees and plants. Cabanas and fire pits will allow guests to party while soaking up the outdoor decor.

Atlantic City Gets Dog Friendly at the Showboat Casino

The Caesars Entertainment Pet Stay rooms in Vegas

When we think of Atlantic City we think gambling and Jersey Shore in that order. We don’t think dogs (unless we were feeling particularly unkind about Snooki et al). But now we might, because Showboat Atlantic City is striking out and marking its territory as the first dog-friendly casino in town.

The hotel launched its Pet Stay Atlantic City program yesterday. Bring your dog and you’ll be accommodated in its New Orleans Tower with dog treats, mat, food and water bowls, disposable waste bags (ugh) and a duffle bag for you to keep (lest you think it’s all about the dog).

There is also a designated PetStay area in the hotel (as with the fellow pet-friendly Caesars Entertainment properties in Vegas) and guests are provided with walking routes and maps to, uhm, “outdoor relief areas”).

It’s pretty reasonable – two dogs of up to 50 pounds are allowed in your room, at a cost of $40. But - yay for introductory deals - for the first two weeks of the program, it’ll be totally free.

Forget Flappers: Strippers May Be Atlantic City Casino's Newest Attraction

September 7, 2010 at 2:04 PM | by | Comments (0)

Atlantic City casinos may be quivering with excitement over the upcoming debut of HBO's Boardwalk Empire--hoping that the Scorsese '20s extravaganza can help pump up business in good ol' 2010. But if that doesn't work, at least one AC casino has another plan up its sleeve: Strippers.

The Associated Press has the dirt on the famous gentlemen's club Scores hoping to make it big on the boardwalk—in the space that used to be home to the Stage Deli at Trump Taj Mahal.

Atlantic City Celebrates 'Boardwalk Empire' with $19.20 Hotel Rooms and 3-Course Menus

August 31, 2010 at 2:41 PM | by | Comments (0)

On the set of Boardwalk Empire. This could be you this fall!

Following Labor Day, the excitement of the Jersey Shore and 90-degree days on the Atlantic City boardwalk won't be as high...that is until HBO's new show Boardwalk Empire debuts on September 19. The historical drama follows the corruption of the prohibition era on Jersey's Riviera and even though the Scorsese-directed show is destined to involve lots of murder, backdoor dealings and general gangster fun, the modern-day Atlantic City is super excited for the show.

The first of what's sure to be a slew of Boardwalk Empire-themed AC hotel packages has emerged from Harrah's. Right now, they've got 1,920 rooms from September 16 to September 30 available for $19.20 per night. You've got to eat, too. So 27 of Atlantic City's restaurants are doing their part with $19.20 three-course prix fixe menus, including the eateries at Harrah's Resorts.

There Was No AC in The AC This Weekend at Trump Plaza

While Trump Soho seems to be doing well, the same cannot be said for the The Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.

On Friday, both the hotel and casino closed for the weekend after a leak was discovered in the water main that provided cooled water to the AC units. In other words, no one would want to seek respite from the 90-degree heat and humidity in a casino with no air conditioning, nor could they survive.

The same thing happened over at nearby Caesars Palace but they were able to remain open with the help of generators.

Bally's Atlantic City Trashed Their Hotel Room (with Help from Bam, Sebastian and Danny)

Usually when celebrities and rockers are involved in trashing hotel rooms, it's not a good thing and it too often signals the depressing turn in VH1's "Behind the Music" series. But at Bally's Atlantic City, trashing hotel rooms is not only acceptable but it's also a contest!

The hotel and casino down the shore is renovating its historic Claridge Tower (originally built in 1929) and decided to have two up-and-coming rock bands trash two hotel rooms to kick off the renovations.

"The Battle of the Room Trashing Bands" involved Danish-born, Brooklyn-residing indie rockers b>New Politics and Philadelphia-based rock act Sinners Saints. But more recognizable were the judges.
