Hat designer to the celebs and fashion ambassador for Coworth Park, Stephen Jones is holding a pop-up hat salon at the country hotel on Friday April 15th. The salon marks the 300th anniversary of nearby Ascot, but it’s also just in time for the Royal Wedding and we’re thinking this union jack option above would be an ideal choice.

The salon is only open for one day (so plan ahead now) and if you do want to visit it’ll cost you £50 each or £90 for two. For your money you get afternoon tea, a one-on-one appointment with Stephen, and a goodie bag. Plus you’ll leave with knowledge of all of the latest hat trends, and with wedding season coming up that info could come in handy; it maybe the difference between you looking like Carrie Bradshaw or Lady Gaga.

With only four days to go until Christmas hotels are busy getting into the festive spirit. This holiday season we have seen some major decorations including the world’s most expensive Christmas tree, celebration cocktails, themed afternoon teas and generous giveaways.

This time it’s the Dorchester Collection’s Coworth Park who are giving away a prize a day in their “12 Days of Christmas” contest. We know we’re a little late but there are still four days left, which means four more prizes to win.

Since we wrote about it’s opening back in September, we have been eagerly awaiting the images of Coworth Park, the “eco-luxury” country house hotel from The Dorchester Collection. Well it seems they have finally given us what we wanted, a peak inside the hotel. And what’s more instead of images they have actually uploaded a short film onto the hotel’s website.

Last time we heard about Coworth Park, the country retreat for the Dorchester Collection, it was something of a mystery with a teaser website promising a Georgian manor house under an hour from London with an “understated design palette with playful, creative accents”.

Well now it’s open. It opened Monday (another late one – they were promising “Summer 2010” before), but seeing what they’ve done to the place, we’re prepared to cut them some slack for their tardiness.

According to the hotel, it marks a whole series of firsts. The first hotel in the UK to have its own polo fields. The first to have a biomass boiler, fueled with willow grown on site, for energy. And the first hotel spa in the world, no less. to carry treatments from organic fiend Dr Alkaitis.

Hot on the heels of the announcement of 45 Park Lane’s launch, the Dorchester Collection is gearing up for the opening of its country pad, Coworth Park.

This week, they sent out a teaser email promising us “The simplest of pleasures with just a hint of the unexpected”. Which then took us to this page on the website. Sleek!

According to the other pages, it’s a Georgian manor near Ascot (so under an hour from London) set in 240 acres of parkland. There’ll be 70 rooms – 30 in the manor and 40 in an annex – with an “understated design palette with playful, creative accents.”
