The Good Hotel Guide has published their top 10 hotels in the UK and Ireland.

What kind of hotels do the GHG folks flock to?

Something small, independent and family-run, set in the kind of glossy rural location that gets Americans swooning.

Our favorite is GHG's "Inn of the Year", The Drunken Duck.

Yeah, of course, we love the name, however, GHG claims we would love the Herdwick lamb and spacious rooms as well.

Of course, not everyone agrees with Good Guide folks. One recent guest quipped:

Stayed there in August for our 1st Anniversary. Booked a delux room at the beginning of 2005 and was given the room above the kitchen and could hear everything going on below. Food was good but so it should be at those prices. No warmth to the place really and I would have expected a much better room for a 1 night stay that cost us over £300 inc dinner.

Sounds like your experience depends on the room you get and the price you shell out for said room.

Here is a map of the Guide's top 10 UK hotels.
